Florala is located in Covington County, Alabama, approximately 25 miles southeast of Andalusia. The city is home to a population of approximately 2,000 residents, who enjoy the excellent schools, affordable housing, and moderate seasonal climate that affords year-round enjoyment of the numerous opportunities for outdoor sports and recreation found throughout the area.

Florala is home to Lake Jackson, a 500-acre natural recreational lake known for its clean, clear waters and excellent fishing. The lake is stocked by the Alabama State Department of Conservation and Natural Resources and boasts an abundant population of largemouth and smallmouth bass, spotted bass, white and black crappie, bream, and catfish. The lake is surrounded by Florala State Park, a 40-acre expanse of parkland featuring camping and picnicking facilities, playgrounds, a swimming beach, and trails for hiking and biking.

Florala is located within 25 miles of Conecuh National Forest, an 84,000-acre expanse of woodlands, wetlands, and pine forest that features a wide variety of recreational activities, including hunting, fishing, hiking, biking, camping, backpacking, picnicking, and more. Within the forest, the Blue Lake and Open Pond recreation areas feature excellent facilities for swimming, picnicking, and lakeside camping, while designated hunting zones offer year-round opportunities for in-season hunting of whitetail deer, bobwhite quail, wild turkey, and other small game.

Florala is home to the annual Masonic Celebration, the oldest continuous Masonic day celebration in the world that features a weeklong extravaganza of live music, arts and crafts, a carnival, parade, bass tournament, beauty pageant, sock hop, street dance, and more. The celebration is held the last week of June at Florala State Park and is open to the public (membership not required).

Conveniently situated on the Florida/Alabama state line at the crossroads of U.S. Route 331 and State Routes 54 & 55, Florala is located just sixty miles southwest of Dothan and within fifty miles of Florida’s Gulf beaches!
