Kinston is located in Coffee County, Alabama, approximately 20 miles southeast of Andalusia and 50 miles west of Dothan. The city is home to a population of approximately 540 residents who enjoy the excellent schools, affordable housing, and low property taxes that make the city a great place to live.
Kinston is served by the Coffee County School District and is home to Kinston High School, a U.S. News & World Report Bronze Medal award winner for the 2015 school year. Nearby institutions of higher learning include Enterprise State Community College and Lurleen B. Wallace Community College, both located within 20 miles of the city.
Kinston is located within striking distance of some of the finest outdoor recreation in the state. The city is situated eight miles north of Geneva State Forest, a 7,120-acre expanse of timberland that is home to Geneva State Forest Lake. The forest is a popular destination for fishing, hunting, hiking, and RV riding and is open year-round, except during deer season in December and January. Frank Jackson State Park is located just ten miles north of Kinston. The park is home to Lake Jackson and provides excellent fishing and swimming opportunities, as well as lakefront camping, shoreline picnicking, and nature trails for hiking and biking.
Golfers can hit the links at any of several nearby golf courses that include River Oaks Golf Course in Geneva and Tartan Pine Golf Club, a semi-private 18-hole golfing facility located in Enterprise. Race fans can enjoy the action at South Alabama Speedway, a “short-track” racing facility located just northwest of town that is home to the Rattlesnake 250 and Alabama Pro 200.
Conveniently situated on State Route 52, just thirty-five miles north of Interstate 10 and fifty miles east of Interstate 65, Kinston is a great place to experience the rustic charm and southern hospitality of southeastern Alabama!
